Ye Signe of Ye Daffodil

I have now written three novellas in tribute to the original stories and characters of E.F.Benson.

All are (or will be) available as ebooks from here in MOBI (Kindle) and EPUB (other) format as well as signed paperback copies. If you have a Kindle, then you should select the MOBI edition. You may need to “sideload” the book onto your device, following one of the methods here (I don’t own a Kindle, so cannot tell you which is the best method).

Mapp at Fifty is also available as an audiobook. Here is a brief sample (the second chapter). You may recognise the link music between chapters – and I artificially aged it to sound like a 78 from one of those horrid gramophone things.

The whole thing weighs in at just under two and a quarter hours, and the file is just over 100MB in size. (order button below)

Mapp at Fifty

Elizabeth Mapp-Flint of Tilling is approaching her fiftieth birthday, and plans a party to celebrate the event. However, as so often happens in Tilling, things don’t go entirely according to plan, as Major Benjy, her husband, over-refreshes himself at the party, and presents her with an entirely unwelcome birthday gift. Meanwhile, Emmeline (“Lucia”) Pillson and her husband Georgie, together with the rest of Tilling look on as Elizabeth’s sister, the existence of whom had been hitherto unsuspected, visits Tilling and exposes a few family secrets.

Mapp’s Return

Since the disaster that was her fiftieth birthday party, Elizabeth Mapp-Flint has been avoiding Tilling society. But just as she decides to re-enter the round of bridge parties and dainty teas, an unexpected visitor to Mallards throws her plans for a triumphant return as the social leader of Tilling into confusion.

Lucia and Georgie, Diva, the Padre and Evie, the Wyses, and quaint Irene (and of course, Major Benjy and Mapp herself) all come alive again in this tale of genteel snobbery and social climbing.

La Lucia

LaLuciafrontA story of Riseholme, in which Mrs Emmeline Lucas (“Lucia”) the queen of village social and cultural life, leads her followers on a quest for Roman remains, and another for fossils. Meanwhile, Daisy Quantock has a mysterious Welsh visitor (or two!) to stay.

Miss Mapp of Tilling arrives at the Ambermere Arms for a short holiday, and attends one of Georgie Pillson’s garden-parties, where she eats quantities of the delicious redcurrant fool being served there.

Postage and delivery

Postage is calculated as a Large Letter (non-trackable) and may (depending on where you live) end up being as much as the book(s). Sorry. I have no control over postage rates. With the current Covid-19 pandemic, shipping times will be longer than usual. I would estimate (and this is only an estimate) that UK delivery will be about a week from posting, and European and North American about two weeks. Australia and NZ, perhaps a little longer. So please have patience. I will try to get the package in the mail the same day that I receive an order.

The postage for your order is automatically calculated for the following countries:

  • Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, UK, USA

However, if you live in a country which is not on this list, don’t order just yet. Check on the map here or use this link to check your zone. If you are in World Zone 2, then there is a default “worldwide” setting. Otherwise, please let me know through the contact form before you order, I’ll add your country to the automated pricing system and then let you know.
